2012 CHINA NATIONALS – Beijing, China

This was my first China Nationals, I have always wanted to win a National title in China but it always would conflict with my school schedule and held in far away regions of the county. This year, the Nationals were held in Beijing and although I had to miss couple days of school, I wanted to make the event. Overall, the entry was not large as the overall nitro scene in China has slowed down this year. However, the top nitro drivers in China were all present. I TQ’d and won both the 1/10 Sedan and 1/8 GP On-Road title this year and instead of trophies, the Chinese Sports Federation gave me 2 gold medals and certificate. I was told these were the same medals given to China’s Olympic athletes when they competed in the National games. Pretty cool!

  • TQ in both 1:10 and 1:8 Nitro On-road
  • Fastest lap time all week
  • Winner of both 1:10 and 1:8 Class
  • China’s youngest National Champion at age 14

JJ Wang double at Chinese Nationals

The Chinese On-Road Nationals were held this past weekend in Beijing, China, bringing together top drivers from all over China including Hong Kong. The three-day race included 1:10 Nitro Sedan and 1:8 GP On-Road as well as 1:10 Electric Sedan. FEMCA President Trevor Reid attended the event as guest of the Chinese Sports Federation’s RC Association. After 4 rounds of qualifying, JJ Wang took TQ in both the 1:10 nitro sedan and 1:8 GP on-road class. In the nitro sedan finals, JJ Wang battled Beijing’s Chen Yan Fu to take the National title with his Novarossi powered Mugen MTX5, Guo Yao Wei from Guangzhou took third with his Serpent 747. In the 1:8 class, JJ Wang driving his Mugen MRX5 dominated the field winning by 7 laps over second place Tommy Dai of Shanghai, Beijing’s top driver Chen Yan Fu came in third.
